
Patients' Rights and Responsibilities

Throughout every stage of a patient's treatment, YONSEI SaeBom Medical Clinic
respects the patient's rights and makes providing the best care its guiding principle, as follows.
01. Patients' Rights
A. Right to Receive Care
Patients have the right to appropriate healthcare services to protect and improve their health,
and their health-related rights must not be infringed on the grounds of sex, age, religion, status or economic circumstances.
Healthcare professionals may not refuse care without a justifiable reason.
B. Right to Information and Self-determination
Patients may receive sufficient explanations from their doctor, nurse or other professionals about their medical condition, treatment methods,
whether they are subjects of medical research, whether organ transplantation is involved, expected outcomes including side effects, and treatment costs.
They may ask detailed questions and have the right to decide whether to consent.
C. Right to Confidentiality
Patients' physical, health-related and private information connected with their care must not be infringed.
Healthcare professionals and institutions may not disclose or publish it without the patient's consent, except where prescribed by law, such as in criminal investigations.
D. Right to Request Consultation and Mediation
If a healthcare-related dispute arises, a patient may request consultation and mediation from the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency or a similar body.
02. Patients' Responsibilities
A. Responsibility to Trust and Respect Healthcare Professionals
Patients must accurately provide healthcare professionals with information about their health,
and trust and respect the professionals' treatment plans.
B. Responsibility Not to Obtain Care through Improper Means
Patients must identify themselves before receiving care and must not obtain care through false or improper means,
such as using another person's name.
