Introduction

A hormone diet that addresses the causes of weight gain—is it also a craze abroad?

(This post was reconstructed from excerpts from the Hormone Balance Diet Book.) For more details, see the Hormone Balance Diet program of Dr. Chae, Yong-Hyun, director of YONSEI SaeBom Medical Clinic, and the Hormone Balance Diet Book.

Do hormone diets exist abroad? The United States could be called a mecca for dieting. Alongside its large population living with obesity and the many diets people follow, one diet has become a central topic of conversation: the “hormone diet.” It is said that the definition of dieting is being reconsidered around hormone diets.

The following chart is a dietary guide said to serve as a foundation when following a diet. “Endo” in the chart means endocrine—in other words, hormones. Hormonal balance is considered a standard for dieting, to the point that this basic diet chart is used as a model. As this illustrates, people abroad recognized early on the importance of hormones that affect dieting and applied that understanding as a model. It also suggests that hormone diets were considered particularly effective among various diets.

The red-fleshed fish, sugars, processed fats, flour, gluten, caffeine, alcohol, beans, food additives, dairy products and eggs shown in the chart are foods we encounter and eat very commonly. But do all these foods affect hormones? No. These foods have both benefits and drawbacks.

Dr. Chae, Yong-Hyun’s Hormone Balance Diet uses a more systematic eating plan to help people succeed with their diet and manage their weight. By identifying foods and habits that act unfavorably on the body, it addresses the causes of weight gain and hormonal imbalance to help the diet succeed. It also helps people understand the entire process of weight control so they can continue managing their weight without rebound after the diet ends. Other diets cannot compare, can they?

“Endo” means endocrine—in other words, hormones. Quick Guide to the Endo Diet. Foods to avoid: red meat; sugar/“bad” fat; wheat/gluten; caffeine and alcohol; soy; additives/preservatives; dairy and eggs. Source mark: Endo Warriors, support for women with endometriosis. The chart’s original English says “red meat”; the Korean chart label says “red-fleshed fish.” Both are preserved here as written.

Some of these foods are restricted in the Hormone Balance Diet and others are allowed

Some of these foods are restricted in the Hormone Balance Diet and others are allowed. They are not all categorically forbidden, because benefits and drawbacks coexist. However, some things clearly are not allowed.
